Navy Takes On Hope Inc. At Cullen Arena

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — The Hope, Inc. Hurricanes Youth Sled Hockey faced off against the United States Navy sailors early this afternoon.

Down in the Cullen Arena, the Sailors had no idea what they were getting themselves into, as the sled hockey team skated circles around them.

It was a great time for both groups, as the sailors got to experience a different way to play hockey and get to know the Hope Inc. community in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

This all started because the City of Moorhead stepped in and contacted the navy.

“It was purely word of mouth. The City of Moorhead is always supportive. Supportive helping adaptive sports and they shared that it would be a great opportunity for the navy to get on the ice and experience something they probably haven’t ever had before and so that’s how we connected,” said Kelly Buhr, office and program manager.

Hope Inc. says they are preparing for the upcoming sled hockey season.
