Blues Festival Starts Today at Newman Outdoor Field

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo Blues Fest starts today with thirteen bands playing over the course of the next two days.

“We’ve got a great line-up, we’ve got Pablo Cruise who’s going to be out tonight at nine o’clock. The North Mississippi Allstars are going to be closing the show out starting tomorrow night.”

Shinn has worked at Blues Fest for the past few years and previously MC’d for the event.

“I love the blues, I’m not going to lie, but you know The North Mississippi Allstars are awesome, but you know Pablo Cruise is not necessarily a blues band they’re more of a soft rock. We want to do a little of a crossover you know like other events like WE Fest will have like Kid Rock or something like that we got Pablo Cruise.”

With many other performances expected to be seen, 3rd Street Blue Band is one of the many who will be taking the stage tomorrow.

“Normally I play the bass and it’s all in the feel, you work off of the crowd. You get excited with the crowd. We can move on stage with each other. It’s a – music is life thats. A lot of things have gone through life and I’ve been around a long time and music has never failed me.”

Vance Whirlwind has been with 3rd Street Blues Band for a year and a half and along with Jamie Larson, they play with how the crowd and music make them feel.

“I love blues music I grew up with it, it’s just what I’ve been listening to my whole life so, I love it, I love the environment, I love the way it feels, I love blues music so it’s perfect.”

3rd Street Blues Band will also be performing next Thursday at the Tailgators Sports Cafe.

Gates open tomorrow morning at 11 a.m.
