Adult-Use Cannabis Makes November Ballot in North Dakota

BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR) —  North Dakota Secretary of State has officially approved the petitions to get adult-use cannabis on the November ballot.

The move comes after nearly 19,000 signatures were accepted, 3,000 over the required amount, to bring it to the ballot once again.

The last attempt to pass legal marijuana failed in 2022.

One of the key differences from the last measure brings up the limit of 500 milligrams to 1500.

New Economic Frontier also states that if passed, legal cannabis will provide jobs and enhance safety within the state.

“It’s very conservative. The possession volumes are very very restrictive. And that is going to help law enforcement go okay someone’s either trafficking because they have large volumes or they’re not trafficking,” said Steve Bakken with New Economic Frontier.

It will appear on the ballot as Measure Five.
