Employees take gun away during robbery in Grand Forks

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) – An armed robber was arrested early Monday, thanks to employees at a Grand Forks convenience store.

Police were called to Valley Dairy at 1220 University Avenue at 3:31 a.m. on a report of a robbery in progress.

The suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Ian Kramchuck, entered the store armed with a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun.

He threatened the employees and a struggle started. The gun was wrestled away from Kramchuck by employees and he was restrained until police arrived and took him into custody.

Kramchuck refused to identify himself with the police and was transported to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center. He’s facing charges of armed robbery, terrorizing, and physical obstruction of a government function.

There were no injuries.
