Moorhead voters to decide on 10-year capital projects levy for school projects, upgrades

MOORHEAD (KFGO) – The Moorhead Area Public Schools’ Board is putting a capital projects levy on the Nov. 5 ballot.
If passed, the levy would generate around $4.3 million annually over 10 years to address technology, facility, curriculum, and transportation needs across the district. According to Moorhead Area Public Schools, needs include things like staff training and development, maintenance projects like roofing and security, tech replacements and upgrades, and bus and van replacement.
According to www.vote152.org, a homeowner with a house valued at $200,000 would see an increase of $137 annually on their tax statement. A homeowner with a house valued at $350,000 would see an increase of $267 annually.
“This funding is crucial for providing our students with the resources they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world,” Superintendent Dr. Brandon Lunak said. “We are committed to maintaining high educational standards and ensuring our schools are equipped for the future.”
There will also be a community town hall on Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. at the MAPS Operations Center, 1313 30th Avenue S. in Moorhead.
In 2019, Moorhead voters overwhelmingly approved a $110 million bond referendum to build a new high school and career academy.
