Robotic mower stolen from Fargo school recovered, tracked with GPS

FARGO (KVRR-KFGO) – The Fargo School District has one of its robotic lawnmowers back after it was stolen from outside Jefferson Elementary School late Monday night.

The district says staff received an alert that the mower had been removed from school property.

With GPS tracking, employees were able to monitor its location. Police were notified and the machine was tracked to an apartment building, but officers could not determine which unit it was in.

Tuesday night, the mower’s location changed and it was shown to be near the Red River. Staff found the mower. The police report says the mower is valued at $5,500. No one has been arrested.

The district’s robotic mowers are registered to Fargo Public Schools and will not run outside of their geocoded areas. They’ll eventually be used at all district buildings and sites and should be fully operational by fall.
