Sen. Tina Smith visits new Dilworth Fire Hall under construction

DILWORTH, Minn. (KVRR) — Senator Tina Smith visited the Dilworth Fire Hall today to see how progress was going on the newly constructed fire station.
Senator Smith helped secure $975,000 through congressionally directed spending to help fund this project.
The fire station is approximately forty years old and shares space with the community center.
The current fire station was exposing firefighters to toxic chemicals.
The new space will provide space for all emergency service providers and equipment.
Smith says, “The nearly a million dollars that we, Senator Klobuchar and I, have been able to bring back to this community to help them to do this expansion is going to make firefighters and emergency responders help them be safer; it will help their families be safer, and it’ll help them do the training that they need. And at the end of the day, that’s going to be really great for everybody in the community.”
Once construction is finished, the second phase will include taking down the old fire station. The new station is set to open by the end of summer 2025.
