MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – Court documents says the man accused of killing a teenage girl in Moorhead this week admitted to police that he stabbed the girl 13 times.

Eighteen-year-old Isaac Arndt is charged with second-degree murder for the death of 14-year-old Jaelynn Nicole Walker.

According to prosecutors, Arndt arrived at the Clay County Law Enforcement Center late Monday night to report an assault. He told police that he was with Walker at Gooseberry Park when “an unknown white male” started to follow them.

Arndt said they were on an electronic scooter and he stopped to see what the unknown male was doing. He said at that point, Walker fled the area on foot and the male cut him with a knife.

Arndt was sent to a Fargo hospital for treatment, where he later agreed to go with Moorhead detectives  and answer questions.

Arndt pointed to an area on a map which was consistent with where Walker’s body was found and eventually admitted he and the victim had been in a romantic relationship for several months that recently ended.

Arndt said after Walker started to hit and kick him, he pulled a knife out of his pocket and started to “slash” at Walker, stabbing her about 13 times.

Arndt told investigators that after stabbing Walker several times, he cut her throat, gave her a hug, stabbed her one more time in the back and dragged her body to the river before fleeing the scene.

Arndt said he went to his apartment in Fargo, where he cleaned up and washed his clothing which was covered in blood. A search warrant was later executed at Arndt’s residence, where socks and a towel with red stains were found in a kitchen cupboard.

The complaint says security video shows Arndt on a motorized scooter headed towards the pedestrian bridge to Fargo. Along the way he appeared to be discarding items in the same location where the Victim’s phone was found.

A review of Walkers’ phone showed conservations agreeing to meet Arndt at Gooseberry Park. A witness also reported seeing a African American male and a young female on a motorized scooter going the wrong way on a one way street at a high rate of speed sometime between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The cell phone, a Samsung Galaxy with an orange case, still needs to be located. Police believe the phone is in Fargo between 2nd Ave. South and 10th Ave. S. between 15 St. S. and 23rd St. S. Anyone within that area is asked to look for the phone.

If convicted, Arndt faces up to 40 years in prison.
