Damaged E-Bike Battery Causes $10,000 in Fire Damage to North Fargo Apartment Unit

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR/KFGO) — A damaged e-bike battery that was on a charger and started on fire has caused $10,000 in damage to an apartment unit at 202 6th Avenue North, Fargo.

Fire crews responded to this three story apartment building just after 9 a.m.

They arrived to heavy smoke coming from the first floor unit and were able to quickly extinguish the fire, keeping the damage confined to the one apartment.

No one was hurt.

Tenants have been temporarily displaced from the unit.

Fargo Fire recommends that anytime a lithium battery appears to be damaged, properly dispose of it and replace it with a new battery.
