MSUM Football Ready for Thursday Night Opener vs. Wayne State

MSUM IS RANKED N0. 6 IN THE NSIC PRESEASON POLL; WAYNE STATE NO. 4

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) –The 2024 season is here for the MSUM Dragons. After finishing 6th in the NSIC a season ago, the Dragons look to make a jump this year.

The Dragons return several players from last year’s team, but none more important than junior quarterback Jack Strand. Strand broke several MSUM passing records a season ago and looks to take another step forward this year.

He says the excitement for the season to kick off has been building for months and a Thursday night game to start…it is hard to beat.

“We are really excited and this is something we have been looking forward to all winter,” said Strand on the season opener. “I think we are prepared and ready. We had a really good fall camp, both the offense and defense made a lot of plays. Especially to play at home and be able to play a night game…night games are always special. It is just a little bit different of an environment. To be able to play in front of our home crowd, we are all very excited.”

Thursday night, September 5, at 6 P.M. the Dragons will kick off their season at Nemzk stadium in Moorhead.

Last season, MSUM opened their season at Wayne State and lost 31-23…they will look to flip that result this go around.

In the preseason NSIC standings, MSUM comes in at number 6 and Wayne State at number 4.
