“Carry The Load” Partners with Fargo National Cemetery for Patriot’s Day

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — As part of Patriot Day, National Cemetery Administration is partnering with “Carry The Load” to clean up the Fargo National Cemetery.

“Carry The Load” is a non-profit that offers volunteer opportunities to beautify sacred grounds at 67 national cemeteries nationwide on 9/11.

Volunteers from local businesses including John Deere, Scheels, Buzzy Bee Coffee and Gate City Bank all signed up for the event.

They got to work weeding and scrubbing down headstones.

“Remember the fallen people that have lost their life today and to remember that freedom isn’t necessarily free. And there are a lot of people who have paid the ultimate sacrifice,” said Amy Monson, Member of Fargo National Cemetery Volunteer Committee.

To date, over 1,000 volunteers have signed up to take part.
