La Catrina: New Mexican Store Brings a Twist on Snacks to Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — La Catrina or The Elegant Skull has come to the Fargo area from the Aguirre family who has been working on this idea for a while.

“She always wanted to do something like this…in here and we I was kind of concerned if people will accept it, but we’ve been very very blessed that we’ve had a lot of good response,” said Sergio Aguirre, Co-owner of La Catrina.

While the store is still setting up, many people have taken to Facebook groups to share their take on the new store. Many of the treats like Street Corn, Paletas, and Pepi Locos come from many Mexican delicacies that you would find with street vendors South of the border.

“It is the combination of sweet, sour, and spicy. What I mean spicy it’s just a little taste of spice on it, not spicy, spicy,” said Aguirre.

While the Fargo area does have many Mexican restaurants, the food here is something that can be shared and bring people together.

While the store is still fairly new, they invite the community to try out something new with a friend or family member.

The store is located at 4950 13th Avenue South Suite 8, in Fargo.
