Fergus Falls Public Schools Push Again For A School Bond Vote
FERGUS FALLS, M.N. (KVRR) — Fergus Falls Public Schools is pushing for another school bond vote lowering their original proposed $55 million bond in May down more than $6 million dollars.
The proposal was originally made after an inspection by a facility committee was conducted on the schools in the district.
It was recommended to replace both Mckinley and Adams Elementary due to its old age of both being built eighty-five years ago.
The maintenance upkeep is continuously adding up and they cannot expand the two buildings any further to adhere to modern settings.
“The world has changed greatly since 1939. Every other industry has had to change and adapt as the world changed around them. And school and education is no different,” said Jeff Drake, Superintendent of Fergus Falls Public Schools.
The superintendent said that if the proposed bond is passed the school will take about three years to be built, but it’s something that he wants families to consider for their kids in the long run.
