Man detained at Islamic Center was having mental health crisis

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – Moorhead Police say one man was detained after experiencing a “mental health crisis” at the Moorhead Fargo Islamic Center.

Officers were called shortly after midnight on a report of a suspicious man who appeared to be trying to break into the building.

Officers located the man outside. Police attempted to de-escalate the male, who was in “an obvious mental health crisis.”

The man was detained and transported to a local hospital.

Police say the incident is still being investigated and communication with members of the Islamic Center is active.
