Daycare in Dilworth Closes Abruptly
DILWORTH, Minn. (KVRR) — ABC-123 daycare in Dilworth abruptly closed. Parents found out in a text message stating the facility would not be open.
“As far as we were told they can’t re-open again. And I think that’s the best result. I mean it stinks that anytime a parent actually spoke up and stood up for their kid like they should Nicole would just terminate them,” said Andrew, a Parent.
Andrew’s 3-year-old son attended the daycare for about three months before the incident took place.
“Nicole had stated that he had gotten out of the gate and had ran from her…what we were told was that he made it to the highway. We never saw any video or anything like that, but was told that he made it to the highway…we did contact law enforcement,” said Andrew.
Since September, 2020, the Minnesota Dept. of Human Services found various violations, including not supervising the children, a staff member had hit a child for not putting on their seatbelt, and staff did not ensure infants were safely positioned during nap time.
“But we did notice ..a little bit of …behavioral issues after he had left that daycare. So like when he goes to school no issues. When he goes to daycare you know he’s kind of … different I’ll just say that because he didn’t really act up before the biting and stuff happened,” said Andrew.
The DHS says the closure is not the result of any licensing action, and that license holders may close their license for a variety of reasons.
We visited the daycare to give them a chance to respond to the allegations and discuss the closure, but the owner, Nicole Flick, declined to comment.
Dilworth Police say that although the day care had been investigated in the past, there are currently no active investigations taking place.
