Haz-Mat crews respond to low-dose radiation leak near Fergus Falls

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KVRR) – The Moorhead Fire Department’s Haz-Mat team was among the agencies that responded to a report of a low-dose radiation leak near the Fergus Falls Airport.

Otter Tail County Public Information Officer Shannon Terry says the source of the radiation was inside the trailer of a semi carrying residential medical waste.

Terry says the radiation was detected during a routine inspection and the semi was kept in an isolated area.

Terry says there’s no indication the radiation posed a threat to the public.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Fergus Falls Fire Department also responded.
