Faith and Charles Dixon bail set in felony theft case

BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR) – Faith Dixon and her husband Charles Dixon made their first appearance in court Wednesday to face charges that they misappropriated more than $200,000 in state grant money awarded to her charity Faith4Hope.

“I have put that you cannot leave the states of North Dakota or Minnesota. I am going to put a requirement that you sign an extradition waiver.”

During the hearing the Dixons’ attorney Dane DeKrey said that both of his clients have been working with the Vogel Law Firm for the past two years in hopes of resolving these charges civilly.

“These have been ongoing negotiations or discussions, so I apologize for that. I meant to simply indicate that this wasn’t completely out of nowhere, that this alleged conduct was on both my clients radar. ”

Bail was set at $5,000 for both defendants. Due to the Dixons having a Moorhead address the state also requested that they sign extradition waivers. The defense agreed to the terms of their release.

Throughout the hearing, Faith Dixon appeared emotional, and said she intends to fight the charges against her.

“I think that Mr. DeKrey has spoken very well of me, and I am going to move forward and fight this case. Thank you.”

There will be a preliminary hearing in the case on November 18th, with a pretrial hearing in January, before the case is set to go to trial from February 11th to the 14th.
