Suspect flees following shooting in downtown Fargo

FARGO (KVRR) – A man is hospitalized in Fargo with serious injuries following a shooting in downtown Fargo Thursday morning.
The shooting happened at the corner of 3rd Avenue North and Broadway outside Sammy’s Pizza at around 2:30 a.m.
Police say the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. The victim was transported by ambulance to Sanford Hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators believe the victim and suspect knew each other and do not believe there is an active threat to the public.
An eyewitness says he saw a white van across the street with someone in the passenger window seat talking. He then heard a gunshot and watched the van drive off. The worker ran over, took off his sweater, and used it to cover the victim’s chest wound before asking another person to call 911.
Police continue investigating and had no further information to immediately release.
