Great Horned Owl Rescued From Soccer Net in Moorhead’s Hampton Park
MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — A great horned owl had a close encounter with a Moorhead neighborhood.
A concerned citizen spotted the owl tangled in the net of a soccer goal in Hampton Park and made the call to authorities.
Community Resource Officer Greg Schmidt came to the rescue, cutting the owl out of the netting with the assistance of a man who lived across the street from the park.
Despite wearing gloves, Schmidt reported that the owl managed to pierce his glove with its talons.
Unphased, Schmidt finished freeing the owl and got it into a cage for safe transport to a veterinarian to be evaluated.
