Ribbon cutting held for new South Fargo fire station

Station8

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – After a lot of planning and construction, the Fargo Fire Department is opening their new station in South Fargo.

Station 8, which is located just off 64th Ave. S in Fargo, is a state of the art fire station in an area of the city where response times were high.

A lot of effort was put into making the new station as safe as possible for the firefighters as well. It features new decontamination stations to keep contaminants out of the living area, and is built to withstand tornadoes so that the firefighters are prepared to serve in the case of a disaster.

“This building is built, like I said earlier, to withstand an F4 tornado. So we know we’re going to be a big commodity if something like that would happen. This building isn’t going to be on top of our folks or our equipment. We may have some issues with the garage doors, but we can push them out of the way, and we can go respond and go to work.”

The station will be operational starting next Monday, as crews begin to move in.
