United Way Hosts Over Six Hundred Women To Bring Awareness on Childhood Poverty
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — More than 600 women from the community gather at Delta Hotels by Marriott to help raise awareness and support for kids in poverty.
They attended the United Way Luncheon and Silent Auction.
It was put together by the Women United Leadership team
The silent auction included donated items like name-brand purses, gift baskets, and other merchandise.
Speakers invited to the event focused on the increasing need for mental health services in the community.
“Getting access to the right type of help is particularly challenging. It can be isolating and the lack of resources makes that challenge particularly difficult. So today our efforts are focused on ensuring that all kids, no matter their circumstances in life, have access to the right type of mental health support that they need,” said Taylor Syvertson, Director of Community Impact at United Way.
United Way leaders say 75 percent of local kids who need mental health services don’t have access.
