Red Raven hosts first Fargo Mini Zine Fest

Zinefest

MOORHEAD, MINN. (KVRR) – Artists, writers and independent journalists got a spotlight this weekend at the Fargo Mini Zine Fest.

The fest was hosted at the Red Raven, and featured 11 vendors selling their zines, comics and more.

A zine is a self-published, non-commercial print that is typically made by hand or in small batches.

The local producers at the event got a chance to share their work which can touch on a range of topics from art and music to politics and memoir.

They say that zines are making a comeback, and are an important way for people to share their work that might not be commercially viable.

“I think it’s very important, because zines are so inexpensive to make, very fast to make, you can make them about anything. So if you have a message, something you’re trying to put out, or something to promote or teach, you can do that very easily, and you can spread that message.”

The Red Raven says that they hope that they’ll be able to do the event again in the future.
