Local boxers excited for spectacle of Paul-Tyson bout

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Friday night will be a big night in boxing as former Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson takes on celebrity boxer Jake Paul.

The fight will be streamed live on Netflix, and is expected to draw huge viewership, and for local boxers, it’s an exciting time.

Rogue Boxing Club in Fargo trains many local boxers, and they say that the increased exposure for the sport has been great.

They say a lot can go into training to be a boxer, and that fights like this can bring even more people to the gym to take on the challenge.

And it reminds many of their boxers about the dreams that they’re working so hard to achieve.

“(You) go to the fights and be at fights where there’s only a couple hundred people there, and nobody really cares locally, and then to have something like this with huge exposure, huge numbers and going to be on Netflix. It’s just really exciting for a lot of people, it’s bringing new people to the gym, new people are interested in it. Your people are just asking about it.”
