Fargo Public Works Prepares For Transition Into Winter Weather
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — With snow in the forecast, the Fargo Public Works Departments has been getting the streets, and their equipment, ready before the first flakes fly.
Fargo Public Works Service Manager Corey Houim says they are transitioning from fall street sweeping to moving and removing snow from Fargo streets.
Crews have been working to get snow emergency equipment ready for the season.
Houim says cleaning up the leaves in the fall can make the things run much smoother during the spring melt.
“The reason being that we try to get leaves swept up every season is it really helps us out in the spring. So that way our storm drains aren’t plugged up with leaves. And then when we’re trying to get the storm drains opened up with streamers, it makes makes our lives a lot easier to get that water to go down that drain,” said Corey Houim, Public Works Services Manager.
Houim says crews have been sweeping leaves from streets since October and so far have hauled over 670 loads of leaves to the city’s composte site.
