Fertile-Beltrami’s Isaiah Wright Reflects on Football Career

THE SENIOR RUNNING BACK HAS RUSHED FOR OVER 6,000 RUSHING YARDS IN HIS CAREER.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KVRR) –Running back for Fertile-Beltrami Falcons, Isaiah Wright, has been the workhorse for his teams offense and a huge reason why they are in the 9-player prep bowl.

Wright has over 2,500 rushing yards and 39 touchdowns this season and over 6000 rushing yards in his career. Those numbers alone make him one of the top running backs in the state of Minnesota.

“All my teammates and my coaching staff, none of it’s possible without them,” said Wright on his success.

His career rushing yards equates to roughly 3.4 miles. His coach says he is showing the state what he has seen for years.

“Well, it was incredible,” said head coach Brian Nelson. “I mean, it’s just people got to see how dynamic of an athlete he is, and he’ll be the first one to give all the credit to his offensive line, because they’ve done just a tremendous job all season.” Nelson continued, “He started playing quite a bit as a freshman on our state runner-up team. He’s just grown from there to a two-way starter. He’s had a tremendous career.”

Wright is putting together big game after big game, helping his team reach the 9-player prep bowl. Just last weekend in the semifinals, he rushed for an absurd seven touchdowns and over 360 yards.

“Originally we thought that it’d be the other way around,” said Wright on his big stat line. “You know, Cam would get his 300-400 yards, but it ended up being me, and I’m just very grateful for all of it.” Wright continued, “If we get tired after a run, we can just give it to the next one, and they get just as many yards, and we just keep punching it down their throat.”

The Falcons running back room has put the team in the prep bowl, and now they look to finish off their season with a state title.

“To come at it with the right attitude,” said Wright on the mindset into the championship game. “Play every snap like it is your last and hope for the best.”

As for what is next for Wright, after decommitting from North Dakota football, he is still chasing his dream of playing college football at the highest level.

“For me, after high school, I hope I can play college football, and hopefully I get an offer after this game,” said Wright.”

Fertile-Beltrami vs. Hills-Beaver Creek will kick off at 10 A.M. on Saturday, November 23.

The game will be played at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
