LIVE: Slumberland gives beds to kids in need

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – There’s nothing quite like going to sleep in your own bed, and Slumberland is helping make sure that kids in the metro get to have that experience.

It’s the 30th year of their Homes for the Holidays event, where they work with The Salvation Army, The Knights of Columbus and other partners to provide beds and bedding to kids in need.

They say that having their own bed can help kids tremendously, giving them a sense of security that will help them grow and do better in school.

One mother who left an abusive situation with her two sons says that they were thrilled to finally have their own bed to sleep in after having to share her bed and a cot.

“He’s gonna be so excited, like, I’m probably gonna cry tonight, but we talked about it last night, and he’s like, a bed, I get a bed. And I was like, Yeah, your very own. And he’s just, he’s so excited.”

Slumberland was able to donate over 40 beds, along with bedding and stuffed animals, to kids in need this year.
