Mario Kart Tournament Returns to Fargo Public Library
$250 worth of gift cards were available as prizes for the winners.
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The Fargo Public Library offered kids a chance to test their video game skills and maybe leave with some sweet prizes.
The library hosted regular Mario Kart game nights over the summer, but slowed down when school started.
Now that it’s winter break, though, event organizers decided it was high time for another tournament, and scheduled it for the afternoon of December 28th.
There were two brackets, divided by age – 13 years and younger, and 14 years and older.
The event organizer, Shane Barnes, says he’s noticed how the bonds of friendship between the kids have grown stronger over time.
“Peter [one of the participants] told me that they have a group chat with some of the people he met over the summer – I thought that was great,” said Barnes, who also works in IT for the library.
“I really like how you can play with your peers, have a fun time, and make friends with them.”
Friendship wasn’t the only available reward. The tournament was co-sponsored by Rock 30 Games, which donated $250 worth of gift cards to be distributed amongst the winners.
