MATBUS Driver Saves Unresponsive Passenger With Narcan Kit

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A MATBUS Driver is being recognized for his heroic effort to provide Narcan to an unresponsive passenger.

Zachary Armstrong was driving Route 15, a bus that travels from Downtown Fargo to West Acres Mall.

He was alerted of a woman who was unresponsive and he immediately pulled over to contact dispatchers and administered Narcan spray, which saves lives in case of an opioid overdose.

Emergency crews arrived in minutes and Armstrong says he has seen the woman return back on the route.

“This one is the most severe I’ve seen, but MATBUS gives you some training they make sure you have some Narcans. So that took a lot of the pressure and the stress out of the situation. If you know you have the solution you just do it,” said Zack Armstrong, Matbus Driver

Narcan has been on MATBUS since 2018 with the help of Fargo Cass Public Health.
