Otter Tail County Women Charged With Wrongfully Receiving Assistance

OTTER TAIL CO., Minn. (KVRR/KFGO) — Two women in Otter Tail County are accused of fraud and charged with wrongfully receiving assistance.

Court documents show 26-year-old Kara Gondringer of Fergus Falls failed to update her income for medical assistance since moving to the county in February.

A fraud investigator determined she received over $3,000 more than allowed.

30-year-old Bailey Freel of Perham also failed to report her income for medical assistance.

Freel was overpaid over $7,900 between September 2023 and May 2024.

Freel claimed that she did not report her income since none of her employers provided insurance.
