UPDATE: Former West Fargo Police Chief Not Named Interim Chief in Minot

MINOT, N.D. (KVRR) — Retired West Fargo Police Chief Denis Otterness will not be headed to Minot to serve as interim police chief.
Minot City Council tonight voted for an alternate plan to keep current interim chief, Capt. Dale Plessas, in that role.
The city manager had wanted to offer Otterness a six-month contract with the option to extend it while looking for a permanent police chief.
Former Minot Police Chief John Klug stepped down last month over allegations of creating a hostile work environment and sexual harassment.
The city council voted seven-zero to offer Klug a settlement agreement.

Minot City Council tonight will consider the city manager’s recommendation to offer Otterness a six-month contract with the option to extend it by a six months.
Otterness would be paid $4,550 a month and earn one day of PTO per pay period.
Former Minot Police Chief John Klug stepped down last month over allegations of creating a hostile work environment and sexual harassment.
Otterness retired from West Fargo P-D in October 2023 and has 33 years of law enforcement experience.
If approved, he would take over the role next Monday.
