Man Shot in Cass County, Minnesota

There were multiple witnesses to the shooting, and the primary suspect was apprehended shortly afterwards as a result.

POWERS TOWNSHIP, MN – A man from Hackensack, Minnesota is in custody after allegedly shooting an acquaintance late Thursday night.

Cass County Sheriff Bryan Welk says that at 11:26 PM the Sheriff’s Office received 911 calls reporting that a someone had been shot in Powers Township.

Deputies and responders arrived and learned that an adult male, age 34, of Pine River, MN, had been shot at a nearby residence while exiting a passenger vehicle. Emergency aid was immediately rendered to the victim, and he was flown to a Fargo hospital with the extent of his injuries yet to be disclosed.

Authorities quickly identified their suspect as the 47-year-old man from Hackensack, and he was arrested following a traffic stop.

The initial investigation indicates that the victim and suspect are known to each other and there is no threat of public safety in relation to this incident.
