Judge: Chemical DUI Test Was “Coerced”, Tossed Out of Travis Bell Criminal Vehicular Homicide Case

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — A judge has decided that a chemical DUI test taken after a crash west of Grand Forks that seriously injured a woman and led to the death of her 6-year-old daughter cannot be used in court.
44-year-old Travis Bell of Fordville, North Dakota is charged with criminal vehicular homicide and injury after running a red light and hitting the vehicle at the intersection of airport road and Highway 2 last June.
A state trooper convinced Bell to consent to the chemical test but the judge ruled that the consent was involuntarily coerced and must be suppressed.
His trial is scheduled for August.
