ST. PAUL, Minn. (KVRR/FOX 9) — A judge is allowing former Minnesota State Senator Justin Eichorn to be released under the previously agreed-upon terms.

He can go to a halfway house once a bed is available, and will be placed under GPS monitoring.

The Grand Rapids republican was arrested for trying to solicit a minor for sex.

During an hours-long hearing, attorneys argued whether Eichorn should be granted pre-trial release. In court, the woman who went to pick up Eichorn’s laptop was identified as his wife.

As for a gun found in his apartment, Eichorn does have a conceal and carry permit, and the defense said that recently introduced legislation by Eichorn had led to some threats against him.

On Monday, his wife filed for divorce. Eichorn remains in federal custody in the Sherburne County Jail.
