Barnes County Sheriff’s Office Launches Manhunt, Apprehends Suspect

(UPDATE)

A man who set off a manhunt in Barnes County is in custody.

Authorities say 48-year-old George Jerome was arrested in neighboring Steele County.

He fled the scene as deputies were investigating a reported burglary last night in the small town of Pillsbury, North Dakota.

Steele County Sheriff Wayne Beckman says Jerome was located and arrested shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday, hiding in a grove of trees.

Jerome is being held on warrants at Barnes County Corrections Facility.

 

 

BARNES CO., N.D. (KVRR) – The Barnes County 911 dispatch center posted on Facebook on the morning of April 10, saying that they were looking for a man.

While not stating exactly why they were searching for the man, they said, “If you see him or have any information on this suspect, call 701-845-8181. If you see this male DO NOT APPROACH, contact law enforcement.”

The Traill-Steele emergency management page identified the man as George Jerome, last seen near Luverne, North Dakota.

At 9:51 A.M., Traill-Steele posted an update, saying Jerome has been apprehended and is in custody.
