Natural gas leak suspected of causing explosion at Fargo food processing plant

FARGO (KVRR) – One person was taken to a hospital following an explosion at a food processing plant in Fargo.

The explosion was reported shortly before 9:30 a.m. in the 300-block of 40th Street North.

The plant was evacuated. Fire crews determined there had been a natural gas explosion in a heater at the plant.

One person received injuries that were not life-threatening and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.  Another person was evaluated for injuries at the scene.

Fire officials believe a natural gas leak caused the explosion, but it remains under investigation.
