North Dakota GOP Issues Further Holmberg Statement
The former state senator has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for sex crimes involving minors.

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota GOP put out another statement on the evening of Friday, May 2, to address the conduct of former state senator Ray Holmberg and to state all the party had done to distance themselves from him once that behavior had come to light.
The statement included a timeline of events, saying that in August of 2024, Holmberg was stripped of his Elephant’s Celebrated Award, which is an award given to distinguished GOP Republicans.
Following that, in October of 2024, an internal accounting was done regarding all monies paid into the GOP by Holmberg. That total amount was taken off of the GOP’s books and donated to a non-profit that combats child sex trafficking.
Then, of course, in March of 2025, the GOP issued their initial statement condemning Holmberg as soon as his sentence had been announced.
The GOP went on to say that they are “committed to supporting legislation that strengthens protections for children and holds public officials to the highest standards.”
Holmberg currently resides in the Elk River jail while federal authorities determine where he will serve out his sentence.
