UPDATE: Victim ID In Deadly Wrong-Way Crash

The woman driving in the wrong direction died as a result of the collision, while the other driver was taken to the hospital.

THOMPSON, N.D. – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says an 83-year-old Aneta, North Dakota woman was killed in a wrong-way crash on I-29 about two miles north of Thompson on Monday afternoon.

She was driving an SUV that collided head-on with a pickup. The woman was going south in the northbound lanes. The driver of the pickup, a 42-year-old Grand Forks man, was taken to Altru Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

The patrol, Thompson Fire-Rescue, Altru Ambulance and Grand Forks County deputies responded to the scene.

The northbound lanes were closed for about two hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

The collision occurred shortly after 1 p.m.
