United Way of Cass-Clay’s Day of Action Exceeds Previous Year Numbers
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Here at United Way and across 45 locations, nearly five hundred volunteers have shared their time to support the United Way’s mission of helping their community.
“It’s been great, it’s nice and hot, so we’re pretty much getting a workout in and giving back. So it’s been great to get out, learn about another wonderful non-profit in our community, and give back,” said Danielle Leverington.
Danielle Leverington and other volunteers are at Youthworks working on various tasks, including landscaping and sorting through clothes, blankets, and other home items for a drive Youthworks hosts in August. Leverington has been a part of United Way recently after speaking at an event about her personal journey.
“I think Fargo is such a unique community. The Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo community and so many people in our community give back, and we have so many great nonprofits that we can give back to. So, it’s just wonderful to be a part of this type of community that just focuses on giving back,” said Leverington.
At United Way of Cass Clay, about 50 volunteers were gathered to place promotional stickers onto Starbucks sleeves. The sleeves will be sent out to Starbucks across the Cass-Clay area to help raise funds for the back-to-school campaign.
“It’s really exciting to see this continue to grow year over year. It shows that people care and they want to give back in ways that are really meaningful to them. And that a day like today can really energize the community, but that it doesn’t stop here. Folks really carry that throughout the rest of the year into their lives, into their neighborhoods, and continue to bring that giving energy that generous spirit into what they do each and every day,” said Taylor Syvertson, Director of Community Impact at United Way.
While the day was scorching, it did not stop these volunteers from keeping their goals alive.
United Way says that it is always open to volunteers willing to support its cause.
