Child care program reviewing policies after child left outside in West Fargo

L.E. Berger Elementary

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Policies are being reviewed at a West Fargo child care program after a child was left outside during an after-school program on Tuesday.

The incident happened at L.E. Berger Elementary, where the after-school program is operated through a partnership with the YMCA.

YMCA staff notified officials about the incident and spoke with the family of the child.

“A group was outside, and when returning inside, a child was left outside. We have taken the steps we needed with licensing and our policies,” according to a text message to parents.

“It’s important to note that we self-reported this instance to the appropriate authorities because we take transparency and accountability really, very seriously,” said Katie McCormick, Vice-President of Marketing and Communications of the YMCA Northern Sky.

“While the child was safe, we take the matter very seriously. And we’re very sorry that it occurred.”
