Juvenile suspect identified in helicopter laser-pointing incident

FARGO (KVRR-KFGO) – Fargo police have located a suspect in the pointing of a laser at a North Dakota Army National Guard helicopter late last month.

Criminal investigations Capt. Bill Ahlfeldt says a juvenile pointed a green laser at a UH-72 Lakota helicopter near Hector International Airport. Ahlfeldt says the case has been sent to the Cass County State’s Attorney.

Police will not release additional information citing the pending prosecution and the age of the suspect.

The FAA says the incident happened at about 9:00 p.m. on April 17. The helicopter landed safely.

Last year, pilots across the country reported nearly 13-thousand laser strikes.
