West Fargo Closes Flood Diversion Gates
The city of Fargo was reportedly going to follow suit, but felt that conditions had dried up enough where it was no longer necessary.
WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The weather has dried up but that doesn’t mean officials aren’t still worried about the heavy amount of recent rainfall.
That’s why West Fargo decided to close the Sheyenne River diversion gates.
Officials worked with Southeast Cass Water Resource District to initiate those north and south gate closures.
The city says the rain combined with Baldhill Dam discharge rates made them concerned enough to take this step.
The Sheyenne River south of I-94 will flow full while the gates are closed.
Once those water levels recede, the gates will reopen and return to normal operations.
