Carlson Library Starts Gardening Season With Annual ‘Planting Day’
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo Public Library staff and others dug their hands into the ground for its annual Planting Day.
It started back in 2020 at Dr. James Carlson Library in partnership with Growing Together Community Gardens.
Staff from Growing Together and a group of students are working to weed and place new plants in the garden.
The library has three raised garden beds that will be filled with vegetables like tomatoes, cabbage, and peppers.
People helping with the garden have the opportunity to take home vegetables at harvest time.
“It’s a great educational opportunity for folks of all ages to come and learn about gardening. We have families that come, and we have had a lot of repeat gardeners over the past few seasons too. So, it also kind of has a social part of it and a community connection,” said Lori West, Branch Services Manager.
Gardening sessions will continue weekly on Thursdays at 10 a.m. all summer and early fall.
