Former NDSCS football player is charged with sex crime; warrant out for his arrest

WAHPETON, ND (KVRR) – A former NDSCS football player has been charged with gross sexual imposition. With the added note of sexual act-victim unaware. A Richland County warrant is out for the arrest for Raymond Ruschel.

The warrant was issued on May 29. The charge is attached to the date of November 23, 2024.

Ruschel gained nationwide fame after suiting up for NDSCS’ college football program in 2022 as a 49-year-old. The school sent out a statement:

“North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) is aware of the news today concerning serious allegations of sexual assault involving a
former NDSCS student. We take these allegations with the utmost seriousness. Our first priority is always the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and our community. NDSCS respects the legal process and the privacy of those involved and will have no additional comment on this ongoing investigation. We are committed to providing a fair and impartial process for all parties involved. NDSCS does not tolerate sexual misconduct of any kind. We will continue to advocate for our communities and for community services where all individuals feel safe, supported, and respected.”
