Beyond Shelter Opens New Offices in Fargo
The organization focused on building affordable housing for others finally got around to constructing a nice space for themselves.
FARGO, N.D. – It’s been over two decades since Beyond Shelter, Incorporated started their work to develop affordable housing.
45 projects and 1,360 homes later, the nonprofit decided to focus on a different demographic for their next build – themselves.
“We’re so excited,” said development director Christopher Miller. “It’s taken 25 years to get to this point of having our own home.”
The new HQ is located on 25th Avenue South, right next to the Plaza Apartments, a senior living complex unveiled just last year.
One resident says that Beyond Shelter’s assistance has been very helpful in adding some stability to her life.
“Well, I’m physically disabled from many back surgeries and was unable to really take care of myself and my home,” said Barb.
“My daughter started looking for a place for me, and she found this place. And it’s really nice. They’re helping me a lot.”
Barb was joined at the grand opening by a large crowd which included members of the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo Chamber, as well as Mayor Tim Mahoney.
The mayor says it’s a positive sign that an organization focused on housing solutions is not only surviving but thriving.
“What they’ve done is continue to do low-income housing, 55 and older housing,” he said. “To help out people in dire straits in many areas. And it’s just been a great partnership, to see them grow and flourish.”
