FARGO, N.D. – (KVRR) Looking at where ShareHouse is today, you might be surprised to learn of its humble origins.

“We started in the mid-70s as a halfway house having six beds only and no therapeutic interventions of any sort,” said CEO Jeremy Traen.

That was on June 23rd in 1975.

50 years later – the rehabilitation facility offers drug and alcohol addiction treatment not only in Fargo, but also in Grand Forks.

To celebrate, they hosted a little anniversary bash in Broadway Square.

According to the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services, 29% of adults in the state said they had engaged in binge alcohol use in the last 30 days – compared to just 23% nationwide.

And they estimate that 77% of adults that needed treatment for substance use did not receive that treatment in the past year.

ShareHouse says – sometimes that impetus can come from an outside source.

So the important thing if you’re suffering from substance abuse is just to get the ball rolling.

And ShareHouse says they plan to continue with those outreach efforts for many more years to come.

“We’re also looking into different options for expanding our outpatient services and building up our workforce,” said Traen.

“That’s something I get excited about for sure.”
