New trial date set for State Sen. Nicole Mitchell

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — A judge is granting a continuance in the trial of Minnesota state Senator Nicole Mitchell.

Mitchell’s attorneys requested the continuance in a hearing over Zoom on Monday, June 16.

The reasoning for the continuance is due to the shooting of two state legislators and their spouses, one fatally last Saturday.

Lawyers for the prosecution made no objections to the request and the continuance was granted.

The new trial date has been set for Monday, July 14th at 8:30 a.m.
