Rains force temporary closure of underpass at 25th Street and Main Avenue in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — People driving on 25th Street and Main Avenue in Fargo had to made a detour due to a flooded underpass.

According to Fargo Public Works, a lift station lost power during the storm, causing the flooding.

They also say one vehicle had to be towed out of the flooded underpass.

It was reopened by 10 a.m.

The rains also temporarily caused standing water on some streets.

Public Works supervisor Mike Weaver says flooding like this is common during heavy rain events.

“Anytime we get rain that come down that quickly, it just takes time to catch up in the system. So, you know, the streets look flooded for a bit, but eventually they catch up where we get a heavy rain that comes down so quickly, said  Weaver.

He says that all streets and underpasses are clear of water now that the rain has let up.
