UPDATE: Investigators identify person of interest in connection to suspicious package left at Cass County Jail

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A West Fargo man has been arrested after authorities found a suspicious package that resulted in a temporary lockdown of the Cass County Jail.
Cass County investigators say Alonso Carlos LeBaron-Castro, 38, of West Fargo is a person of interest in the case.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the West Fargo Police Department say they took LeBaron-Castro into custody due to a warrant for failure to pay a fine.
He has also been charged with DUI, possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
LeBaron-Castro was booked into Cass County Jail late this morning.
The sheriff’s office is still investigating the incident at the jail to determine if any further charges will be filed against LeBaron-Castro.
ORIGINAL STORY:
The Cass County Jail went into temporary lockdown Tuesday morning due to a potential bomb scare after someone left suspicious packages at the jail.
According to Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner, at around 6:30 a.m. one or more people dropped off two boxes using the jail’s 24-hour entrance. Before leaving they told the jail’s master control that they should look at what they dropped off.
One of the deputies checked the boxes and found them suspicious due to some wires inside.
The jail went into lockdown and law enforcement created a perimeter around the jail while the bomb crews checked out the boxes.
No one found explosives.
The incident remains under investigation.
