Dream for BMX track for kids in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A Fargo BMX enthusiast is working to bring a track back to the area.

Bicycle motocross, or BMX, is a cycle sport that is performed on BMX bikes either in competitive racing or freestyle.

West Fargo previously had a track at South Elmwood Park with the last race held in 2012.

Fargo Park District has asked people to submit ideas for what they would like to see the park district invest in.

Alan Ness presented his idea for a track last year and he got a positive response.

“It’s an Olympic sport now. Skateboarding that’s an Olympic sport. Freestyle bike riding and freestyle skateboarding those are Olympic sports. There’s an entire generation that hasn’t had a track, and it’s kind of hard to race if you can’t get there and you don’t have the track to race on. So I think that’s a good worthy noble cause. Let’s get kids to the Olympics,” said Ness.

Fargo Park District will present the project at its July meeting.
