Sen. Cramer Helps Introduce GOLDEN DOME Act
The defense spending legislation is modeled after Israel's "Iron Dome" missile intercept network.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (KVRR) – U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer is one of the main creators of a defense spending bill that he helped present to the media today.
The proposed legislation is called the GOLDEN DOME Act.
It’s modeled after Israel’s “Iron Dome,” and is a defense strategy that President Trump asked to be implemented at the beginning of his term.
The basic idea is to build new sites or to enhance existing ones for intercepting missiles that might target America.
This includes the development and deployment of space-based weapons sensors.
Senator Cramer said that it’s necessary to have infrastructure that protects the U.S. mainland in order to maintain world peace.
“North Dakota’s two legs of the nuclear triad. It is our nuclear triad with its offensive capabilities, that has never fired a single missile, that has kept the world safe from nuclear war,” said Cramer. “The deterrence itself is relevant.”
The total cost of the bill, if passed, would be about $21 billion dollars.
